The suspension has been delayed until May 3rd (https://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/). Crossing fingers for WW staying available. Along with this and the community-fork, things are looking very promising again.

None of the demos work anymore (including ones on all the GitHub sites) sad and expected. Without WorldWind server wms data apps based on WorldWind are failing all over the world. I am hoping the FAA is not affected or any big projects or the public safety.

This site is the home for the WorldWind Explorer web app, the WorldWindJS library–a community edition of NASA Web WorldWind, and the WorldWind Java-Community Edition SDK–a fork of NASA WorldWind Java, plus other WorldWind programming resources.

WorldWind is an open source virtual globe API. WorldWind allows developers to quickly and easily create interactive visualizations of 3D globe, map and geographical information. Organizations around the world use WorldWind to monitor weather patterns KrogerFeedback customer survey

This should get quite interesting for NASA, given that multiple US Gov Agencies are using the WorldWind platform, primarily the Web and Java. Check it here with the link below www.portlandadubuild.com/

NASA WorldWind just got new releases for Java and Web.

Web WorldWind 0.10.0 and WorldWind Java 2.2.0 are now available on GitHub. The new version of Web WorldWind addresses potential vulnerabilities in the code and underlying packages. The new version of WorldWind Java focuses on upgrading to Java 11 and JOGL 2.4 as well as a switch to Apache 2.0 license. WorldWind’s API remains largely unchanged in this release and we are committed to maintaining a consistent API in future releases. More information on the release can be found at these links: Web WorldWind 0.10.0 and WorldWind Java 2.2.0.

Please direct questions to our new email address: arc-worldwind@mail.nasa.gov.
It seems NASA is still developing WorldWind. What is then left for the community fork? Is it still needed?

The news article on the shutdown seems to have been removed

Instead there is now an news article that says NASA has recommitted to WorldWind
