Will the WWJ SDK 1.2 be available before then so that can be installed before the "release webinar"?

There was no mention of Linux.
So far WWJ has run OK on Ubuntu also.

The system requirements listed are for the webinar. Sorry for the confusion. WWJ 1.2 will run on all platforms it's historically run on.

The release won't be available until the morning of the 19th. We're still finishing it.

        Congratulations!

It's been a long road! Congratulations to the team!

Will there be a recording of the session available to download later this week for those who can't make it?

        Thanks!

        Chiss!

World Wind Java Release 1.2 now available

Release 1.2 of World Wind Java is now available at the following location:

            http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/java/

The release is also available from the World Wind 1.2 Subversion repository. The daily version and its change history will also be available from the repository's trunk.

This release contains everything the previous daily releases contained, with the exception that some unused applications and examples have been removed and the remaining examples and applications have been moved to their own package, worldwindx. Incomplete packages have also been eliminated. Anything that was available prior to this release is still available in the archive at http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/java/archive.html.

All help and support resources are now consolidated at the new help site: http://goworldwind.org/.

The features provided in this release are described on the Features page of the help site. Currently known bugs and issues are listed in the bug database. Please post problems you find to the World Wind Forum.

The best way to start working with the release is to read the Get Started page at the help site.

Please post questions about the release to this forum.

Thank you to everyone using World Wind!

I replaced the gov directory in a workspace with my changes, which is usually done to update.

Works OK, nothing broken so far.

Now to see what changes have been made for 1.2.

Great job in getting this release out.

I'm told that the recording didn't work, so there is none. But the slides are available by clicking this link.

Missing VirtualEarthLayer and USGSTopographics Maps in 1.2

I noticed that these two layers were missing in the 1.2 release. Have they morphed into something else or what is happening with these now?

They are still there in .java or .xml format.
What indication is there that they are missing?

                      src/gov/nasa/worldwind/layers/Earth/MSVirtualEarthLayer.java
                      src/gov/nasa/worldwind/layers/Earth/USGSTopoHighRes.java

                      src/config/Earth/MSVirtualEarthAerialLayer.xml
                      src/config/Earth/USGSTopoHighResLayer.xml

Thanks for the pointer. It looks like they got renamed and moved to the mainstream package now from:

                        gov/nasa/worldwind/layers/Mercator/examples/VirtualEarthLayer

The experimental VE mercator had problems, the new VE layer is much better.
