  • Image format for downloaded iOS cache tiles

    Hello All -

Have been playing around with the iOS version of WorldWind, works great! Question regarding the format of images downloaded to the local /Library/Caches folder... the images do not have an extension type listed, and I am not able to open them if I rename the images to .png or another image format. Does anyone know 1) the image format type the tiles are? and 2) how to configure WorldWind so the tiles are downloaded with the correct image extension already listed.

    Thanks for any suggestions!

The images are cached in 5551 format: 5 bits each of red, green and blue, and 1 bit of alpha. They are converted to that during the download process. The image as originally downloaded is not cached. We do this to save both memory and cache space.
