WorldWind project shut down, this site probably will be too.

Hello all,

With the recent announcement that the NASA World Wind project has been shut down (https://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/news/...ension-notice/) there is really very little reason to continue running this forum, and as NASA staff were providing most of the moderation and responses it will likely fill up with spam shortly.

Unless something changes in the near future, I will be shutting down worldwindcentral.com as well as this forum, as it is no longer useful. Most of the data on WWC is referencing the legacy C# version of World Wind anyway.

Thanks,
Matt.

  • WorldWind on Linux-ARM?

I suspect already know the answer, but I'd like a definitive answer before I report to management....

Is there any (reasonable) method of getting the JNLP based WorldWind demo applications running for Linux on ARM? I've got Oracle's embedded JRE running nicely, but I suspect that WorldWind will not run because JOGL does not support ARM based Linux.

Am I on the money or mistaken?

I believe that you will need native jogl libraries to get worldwind to work. Someone, please correct me if I am mistaken

A quick peek at the source for jogl jars reveals http://download.java.net/media/jogl/...-2.x-webstart/. There are several gles profile jars but only for Jogl 2. I have a beagleboard at home. I will give a shot at compiling the jogl jni code on it.

      Cheers,

        whatnick,
The board I'm using is very close to a Beagleboard, so I'd be very interested in your results!

Does your embedded java environment have a java compiler. I am having a hard time tracking down the jni.h in my install which I will need to get JOGL compiled. The Arm platform is not yet supported - http://jogamp.org/jogl/doc/HowToBuild.html. It will be a first if we get it done.

Sadly, my ARM environment is only the JRE, and doesn't appear to have the header file. I appreciate your help what_nick, but this may be a time sinkhole =)
