  • New Android App...

    Hi All,
I am proud to announce 3D Map Xplorer for the Android! After many months this new WWJ based Mobile App has been released through the Google Play Store. We have added the capability to view some new and old map layers. This release is focused on hikers, families and Folks concerned about fires on the West Coast and where there are fires or might be fires. We have the ability to show current fires and their perimeters along with clouds and US Topo maps. Also included for the same reason is an Air Temperature layer. Using the GPS tracking capabilities the location of the mobile device is shown and with the fire layers a user can tell where the closest fires are and the distance to them. Additionally a USGS Topo map can be added to show possible routes away from the danger areas if hiking. Also Sat and Roads are displayed as another possibility for safe escape routes.

Shown below is screenshots taken yesterday to give you ideas of some of it's small capabilities.

Many thanks to Patrick Hogan and Nicola for their encouragement and help!

    Best Regards,
    Tony Anecito

    Hi All,
Why do just one? In honor of NASA I did another fun one last weekend for kids. Called Mars Xplorer.

Tony, that's great news! Good luck with this. And, we'll be looking for this in Web WorldWind someday.

          Hi All,
Been awhile since I mentioned the Android App 3D Map Xplorer. It has been updated to include support for gpx files, help and an important feature that combines location services with two compasses so you can orient yourself to the 3D Map so you do not get lost in the desert or a state park. Here is the link to google play store so you can see the latest screenshots. I will continue to add more capability every 2-4 weeks.

Thanks Edward. I am working on the next release that will include video and html. I will post a picture when done. Also, I am waiting for Android 6.0 for my cell phone LG LG4 since the only issue reported to me was running it on Android 6.0 on MotoX so I want to test against that version of Android.

            Best Regards,
            -Tony

              Hi,
Expect a big announcement by end of January. We just started testing of our production released/new version on Android 6.0 and so far no issues.

Due to no funding we are limited to just the Android version for now. If there is a funding interest then that would of course change. Web WorldWind might meet your needs. It is browser based and might work on IOS. Give it a try.
