  • 1.4.1 alpha

I finally got the release build working so I mashed together an alpha of 1.4.1, this isn't final, although any core changes are highly unlikely, also NASA had nothing to do with this build so don't hold them responsible if your hard drive gets wiped.

You use this at your own risk, I cannot be held responsible for any damage caused

This is an x86 build and works fine for me in XP.

Thanks for testing WilloxH that's good news, it also works fine in Windows 7 beta, so hopefully we can move from alpha to beta soon.

        Looks Good

        bull:

looks great on XP here also. Too bad I don't have a Windows 7 setup. Would like to test it.

There was an issue with RenderableObjectList in 1.4
        http://forum.worldwindcentral.com/sh...ad.php?t=19789

I'll pull down the code and see if I can get my 1.3.5 plugins to work. As it stands now, I'm compiling 1.3.5 under .NET 2.0, which amazingly compiles without errors. Though I do get a few warnings about deprecated classes.

Now when we get to .NET3.5, just think of the coolness we can do with LINQ and LayerXml, KML, and Collada.

        NOTE:
I did see some odd behavior in the VE plugin. Tiles were disappearing/reappearing. Though take this observation with a grain of salt. It may have always been present. I was never able to use the initial 1.4 release because of the RenderableObjectList issue.

Yeah the VE Plug-in has always been a bit 'wonky', there is a slightly more stable version on the forums somewhere, I'm sure m_k will post a link.

Glad it seems to be working well, now we just need some developers to get this updated to .NET 3.5 and DirectX 11

Ugh.. a 1.4.1 and I can't test it on my main computer... this notebook has developed a bad habbit of crashing under CPU load :\

I'm sorry to report it does not work for me on a 'modern' six month old Vista PC after a fresh reboot. No idea why... it just does not start. Windows says "World Wind stopped working", and 'looks' for a solution - but fails to offer any hint. The application just doesn't start.

The only thing i have seen so far are the 1.4 release notes, which need to be updated for 1.4.1.

Strange, have you built from SVN recently? I'm just wondering if it's the way I built it or some other issue, the release notes will get updated once I go through the SVN logs, I will try the alpha out on a couple of laptops here, I have a Vista and XP one handy, thanks for the feedback.

You have to have .Net 2.0, and the right DirectX, and it should start.

Isn't .net 2.0 installed with Vista? I admit i didn't check and expected to be up to date enough for WW.
About DirectX, the WW install package did install some DirectX stuff i think... so 'im assuming this is OK.

Yeah the installer should detect anything that's missing, could it be the infamous locale bug again, are you using comma's as a decimal separator Pat?

Edit - I wonder if we changed DiretX or Managed DirectX since the last release, the installer wouldn't know about that.

My system is set to French i think, so yes it should be using the coma as decimal separator.

Edit: i just tried an 'old' 1.4 version. It went through the first time launch wizard then i got to see the splash screen for quite a long time (Vista did inquire about the unresponsive task a couple times) and then it went through and i got the globe. It did work, so my system setup is at least good enough for that version.

I set my region to France and it worked fine, I guess something else is messing it up.

I think it is the DirectX. I think it did change since 1.4. It needs to be V9.0C.

                              Hi Pat,

Vista come with .NET 3.0. I've upgraded to 3.5 SP1 (with the latest hotfix) and that run fine for me
