I'm trying to load a local copy of some more detailed terrain data. I only need to load one tile. (for now)
There wasn't much consensus about how to do this on the IRC channel. I think I've found the right tile in the SRTM-US 30m dataset, but I can't seem to open it with global mapper, and 7-zip claims the tiles are "not supported archive."
It looks like I could send this over a server, but I can't seem to find either the .aspx code to do this, or the php that ww central uses. Is the code for this file...

(the url is from Earth.xml) available somewhere, or is there some easier way to make this happen?
