Chris has added atmospheric light scattering to SVN, and boy it looks gorgeous. I posted some screenshots and videos on my blog http://bullsworld.blogspot.com/

Build servers have been down a while since the switch to .Net 2.0
You will have to download the source and compile it yourself.

Many of the height, placename, and download features are horrible right now. I have not touched that code at all, and ther are placenames floating in space, 3D images that are horribly skewed, and downloading is pretty much impossible. Why so many new problems? I love the WW product and you guys have done a great job, dont get me wrong. Screenshot is with VE set to 3, so that isnt the problem. http://forum.worldwindcentral.com/at...1&d=1161356829 |

That i believe is the new and horrible zip based SRTM server that they need for the Java version. Otherwise we have some very lovable features such as 3D models and better KML. Try the 1.4 stable branch in the SVN. The downloads in the trunk/head are broken.

You know how i like nice visuals... so using some code from the Sky Gradient plugin, i spent some time fixing the 'not-so-nice' artefacts that were spoiling this beautifull addition to WW. Here are some screen shots of the now seamless atmosphere from the coming WW 1.4 RC2 (or release ?) :
![]() Tenerife, Spain with sunset ![]() Mt-Fuji, Japan, daylight ![]() Himalaya, facing sun ![]() Sunrise from space over Europe Chris made a nice piece of code computing the whole process of light scattering. With a better mesh geometry it now shows all its glory - with CPU processing only though. If only those damn beautiful sunsets would be just a little different from place to place... maybe we could use the Global Clouds images to add a little variation .Last edited by patmurris; 11-30-2006 at 08:02 AM. |

I also ironed out the terrain shading seams that where showing between the tiles... The sun shading brings out the most of topo and geology maps and will make a lot of happy new users. I cant resist to share some of the great shots i took while testing :
![]() USGS Topo, Glacier National Park, USA, sun shading and atmospheric scattering ![]() USGS Topo, Glacier National Park, USA, with sun shading The same views without shading would be unreadable! The nice thing with USGS Topo maps is that they are quite detailled. They do bring out the most of SRTM data in the US - more detailed terrain geometry than with Lansat layers. WW 1.4 will hopefully draw some attention with such goodies ![]() |
