Here's a nice positive story about the development of Worldwind.

Thanks for posting the link.

One of the better articles on NWW I've seen.

Well, It is on a Microsoft site. I use xp pro myself but still I have to ask, if it started in Linux why wasn't it released for further developement? I understand about reaching the bigger crowd but if the Linux stuff is still around why not release it and maybe inspire some linux deveopers to join in?

There isn't any 'Linux stuff', sadly.

Sorry, I didn't read the article. I'll shut up now. But yes, it's a shame they didn't release what they had. I had been under the impression it was started in C# .net etc but that seems not to be the case.

Blue Marble Viewer is still around, but it's been rolled into an application called osgPlanet, which is Linux native, but *also runs* on Windows. Your mileage may vary on the Windows version.

The JOGL version of World Wind is in full development now, so you non-Windows types should have something tangible to play with by summer this year.

In the meantime, our .Net version of World Wind is not standing still, and some good new features and bug fixes are in store for version 1.3.4 in late feburary.
