hehe at level 11 the screen will be extremly shaky anyway, I'll ask Chris if 11 levels is hardcoded or not.
OK, you ask Chris, i just hate IRC channels... <_<

Strange thing, i did at some point get it to load levels beyond 11, even down to level 15, and level 0 .. 10 work just fine, level 11 just doesn't.

As i understand the Terrain rendering in 1.3.3 has been revised etc. so i'll just wait to see how well that works out before posting any bug reports now...

Hi there,

Given the threat by OneEarth, "All your WMS are belong to us" and the fact that the Netherlands is the WMS country of the week, we have decided to surrender and release our Demis WorldMap Add-On.

Having a bunch of worldwind clients access any WMS can put a pretty high strain on the servers if it is rendering GIS datasets like this on the fly...

Therefore we have added a specific <ImageTileService> type of connector for WorldWind. The images rendered will be cached on the server to provide a boost in performance.

The server has about 10 - 100 Mbit of bandwith depending on the time of day, we hope this is enough to deal with the visitors of this forum giving it a try.

At some point if there is enough interest, we may just render all the tiles in batch and provide the static tile set to worldwinddata or some other party interested in hosting it.

We hope you like it, the add-on is attached to this message...

Hello adriaan-

awesome work! i really like these layers. only they don't seem to align perfectly with the underlying imagery- is this due to them hovering some distance above the surface? - i am a total newbie to WorldWind... apologies if I don't see the true reasons...

Stacking multiple layers of imagery on top of each other has several annoying side-effects, but the upcoming 1.3.3 release is supposed to improve on this, so we'll see how we can make it better when 1.3.3 arrives.

Coming tuesday, (11 Oct) the Demis WorldMap server will go down for a few hours, around EU lunchtime...

The server needs to be replaced as the new one is going to be faster. :P

It will be faster, stronger and more responsive than a Treckie at an Anything Goes Star Trek Convention.

* kicks topic * <_<

We changed the Demis worldmap today, adding a halo effect to the labels to make them more readable.

Having done so, i had to delete the WMS>WWimage cache on the server (120.000+ files), and i suppose everyone using it should do the same, oops...

Hmmm...

Access to the UK tiles seems to be accelerating now, thanks...

BTW the 1.3.3 update seems to have resolved the JIRA bug report i submitted:
