Have you tried redownloading the installer and trying again?
You now, i'll tray , but if that crap won't work after redownloading... I don't have a time to explore what a ... is wrong with that program and what I have i my comp, that is inconsistent with this :X

The same problem here.
Application doesn't seem to start. Just a continious splash screen with initialising.
I have a P4, with ATI Radeon 9700 Graphics card. This card is in the list of working cards, so this can't be the problem. I think the problem is at the server.
World Wind was working before, so I can't explain the problem. It sure is frustrating, because I think this is a really great application.

I am having trouble getting this application started. I am running xp sp2. I installed directx and .net. For some reason when I double click on the "world wind" icon, the splash screen opens and another smaller window also appears. The splash screen's status bar shows "Initializing" but it never gets past this point. I can close the application without a problem. BTW the smaller window that also appears is totally greyed out, so I can't see anything but the window itself without any content. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm now getting this issue aswell, program was working fine yesterday though
Same with me, cannot get splash screen "initializing" to go away, cannot even delete ou tof toolbar.. oddly enough the globe hehind it reponds to the mouse and other items.. but splash screen remains... loaded it several times and did complete clean up of old data before then... tried all sorts of items, nothing works. must be a SW bug somewhere! ANY ONE FIND A FIX or has NASA guys?
Really wanted to use the program but will now have to wait until this thing is fixed. Was advised my graphics should work OK so must be in SW, running XP without SP2

Click on the splash screen, and hit Alt+F4
This won't solve the program, but at least the splash screen will go away
Some other features won't work either, like the layer manager
This bug should be fixed in the next version
