I find it difficult to download DirectX 9.0C. I have to overcome various
Microsoft genuine authorization hurdles. I fail each time, though it is
clear to me that I hve a genuine, pre-installed version of Windows XP
Professional.

Worldwind 1.3 is useless to me. Your software is much too dependent
upon someone else's driver. I do not even know why DirectX 9.0C
is important to me.

Actually, if you'd read the FAQ section, you would've found this:

http://download.microsoft.com/download/6/3...4sdk_redist.exe

A direct link to download the file.

You wouldn't have to validate windows each time if you didn't use IE. I think it is mandatory within that internet browser.. because of ActiveX. Use a third party browser next time... and always look for the redistro-package

Or just read the forums and find the links in the FAQ section...

I've tried doing the activation whatsit with FireFox, I don't think it worked. Either way I gave up and found the direct link.

Question

Unfortunately, it is true that obtaining DirectX 9.0c is a truly grotesque and frustrating process for MANY people. I have tried in the past with three, YES THREE, different registered legal copies of Windows XP, and was denied access by Microsoft each try. It would appear that their crusade against fraudulent copies of Windows is getting very much out of hand. My sympathies to all. Hope this direct link rescues many from their tortuous journey as it rescued myself. Good day to all.

Yup, I've tried that many times, and it always asks me to do the HTA alternative, and it doesn't work. Stupid microsoft. Launchcast is the same way - it only works in IE.

Before asking, check the FAQ or search, and Ask a good question.

Having problems? Make sure you have Managed DirectX and .NET Framework.
Then check the Video Card Compatibility List
