Java compile error for web server

Whenever I try to compile the demo I get the error:

Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not reserve enough space for object heap
Could not create the Java virtual machine.

This is a web server deployment I am trying to create, and I have been allocating 3.5 GB of RAM and yet I still get this error. I can't trace it to any RAM issues, which is usually the case, so, I am stumped. Any Ideas?
