Default GML & KML support

Hi,

Does WWJ support KML and GML? With all of their features?

KML is supported for all but a few features such as Update and Change. All the commonly used features are implemented. We're about 90% to completion, and still working on it.

GML is used by the placename layer, but it handles only a limited set of GML entities.

Nobody here is working on integrating CityGML with WW, although I've always thought it would be great to have. KML+Collada has become the de facto means of representing building data, so that's what our sponsors have asked for. Without extension, though, I don't know that it will ever approach the purpose-specific feature richness of CityGML, which places as much emphasis on the semantics of the data as it does on the graphic representation. Perhaps someone is working on a Collada profile to do the same.

I am curious why you stopped working on the project. Is it for technical reasons or because it took too much of your time? Don't get me wrong, I don't want to offend you. I just want to know whether it's doable in principle.

Thanks and cheers.

Smile KmlRegion: the interfaces and capability

Dear all,

Could anyone help on the following questions?

1. For the class KmlRegion, how to construct an instance? It seems the current contructor (using a namespace url parameter) makes nonsense. In addition, it will be convenient if adding some methods such as:
setLatLonAltBox (KmlLatLonAltBox latLonAltBox), getLatLonAltBox (),
setLod (KmlLod lod), getLod (). These interfaces exist in Google Earth API.

2. My project runs into a demand that needs to analyze the KML Region on server side. That is, for on-demand fetching some kml files, on server side I need to check the kml features with respective Region elements to match current client-side view environment. My thought is as below:
1) When the client-side viewport changes, a request with some parameters describing the new client-side view will be sent to a web service;

2)This web service will query some kml files with their Region elements. A KmlRegion object will be instantiated for every kml file and the isActive () will be invoked to test whether or not this KmlRegion is active against this current client-side viewport. If yes, then this kml file will be fetched to the client side for presentation.

For this demand, now the question is how to enable some WWJ library components to work on server side? In my case, especially for those KmlRegion associated classes.

Could anyone give some hints or examples?

Thanks in advance
