Hi,
I'm new to WW.

I noticed that where I live I can't get the 3d elevation. That srtm tile is just flat.
Does anyone know if this is the data on the server (missing?) or if it is something I
could be doing wrong?

If someone would be so kind as to check if they get elevation data for this location?
location: Stellenbosch, South Africa
Lat. -33.94, Long 18.87 (approx)

Thanks!

Yup, elevation exists for that area. It doesn't exist for over +/-60degrees N/S, though.

Press F5 to get World Wind to re-download the current area, and if that doesn't work search your cache directory for *.txt files and delete them.

If that still doesn't work...Press Ctrl+H for the download log to see what's going on.

Upon pressing F5 WW re-downloaded landsat data starting from level 0,
but one of the srtm files gives an error (not found). Here is the request
details:

Start time: 4/29/2005 11:10:08 PM
Url: http://worldwinddata.arc.nasa.gov/t?...L=4&X=161&Y=43
Target file: F:\Program Files\NASA\World Wind 1.3\Cache\Earth\TerrainAccessor\SRTM\4\0 043\0043_0161.bil.7z
Progress: 0/0 bytes
Status: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.
Proxy: http://worldwinddata.arc.nasa.gov/t?...L=4&X=161&Y=43

Response headers:
========================================

this happens again if I retry the download. I'm using version 1.3.1.

thanks for the reply,
maybe I'll try deleting all the txt files too -- but they don't seem to have
anything to do with the elevation data? They are placeholders for missing
landsat images right?

cheers!

btw,

can someone maybe explain exactly how much data gets reloaded when
you press F5?

Seems like it's doing quite a big chunk again (some of it was nowhere near
the current view, not even the low level tiles) I feel these things on my 56k...

cheers!

Here is another square that doesn't seem to work:

Start time: 4/29/2005 11:20:16 PM
Url: http://worldwinddata.arc.nasa.gov/t?T=100&L=3&X=81&Y=21
Target file: F:\Program Files\NASA\World Wind 1.3\Cache\Earth\TerrainAccessor\SRTM\3\0 021\0021_0081.bil.7z
Progress: 0/0 bytes
Status: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.
Proxy: http://worldwinddata.arc.nasa.gov/t?T=100&L=3&X=81&Y=21

Response headers:
========================================

Sorry if I'm wasting space around here...
I've spent a number of hours with this, so I am really sorry if the answer
is somewhere already...

Thanks for any help!

Theoretically F5 does all of the currently visible area, possibly a bit surrounding the current area too.

Strange that that tile's giving a Not Found....it should be there.

I'll grab jessi or Chris, see if they can fix it.

Thanks!

If you do hear of anything, please post it here!

I don't yet understand how WW chooses to download the elevations -
in order of increasing resolution, or only the one that is closest to the
current zoom? Because I can't see any elevations at those coordinates,
no matter the zoom.

Either way, I think there might be more than one tile involved.

Keep in mind I'm on 56kbps in a 3rd world country (the one in question),
however everything else seems to work.
