We're working on the regional packs, a level 3 pack would be approx 20 GB, so dont look for that any time soon

I am sorry if this has been answered before, but there is no answer in the FAQ. May someone explain what are the different levels of images? 0 is the closest to the ground or the largest number?

0 is the first level of detail, and the detail levels increase to number 6 as you zoom in.

I can't remember the exact distances at which the layers become active, though.

Grabbed all the cache packs via torrent - thanks! I can keep seeding them 24/7 for a few months (on cable).

BTW the new 7zip beta8 seemed to handle the large NLT 2 NH zipfile OK.

Any news on the regional cache packs? Or maybe on a level 3 cachepack?
Hi Shakespeare!

Thanks for seeding! You're helping out. Really. Keep it up! 1,3TB shared already... hahaa. About the regional packs: we're still working on them. Keep an eye out for a post announcing www.worldwinddata.com sometime soon.
I'm all for a L3 cache pack, but I'll have to get f0urtyfive to generate it... and there's also the trouble that sharing that might eat A LOT of the bandwidth we'd like to use to distribute the other packs... But who knows?

Anyways. Thanks! Steven.

C:\Program Files\BitComet\Downloads\WorldWind 1.3 Landsat 7 NLT Level 2 - Northern Hemisphere - Version 20-04-2005.zip: The archive is either in unknown format or damaged

The strange thing is that I can open the file perfectly with WinRAR. The error occurs only when it starts to extract the files.
Am I the only one with bad luck?
Well I have the same problem under linux with "ark" I will give a try under winXP and winrar

There is a 2GB file size limit for standard zip files. The NLT 7 North zip apparently was made with WinZip 8's nonstandard format. It's not supported by most other compression utilities.
However, I was able to unpack it with 7zip version 8 alpha.

I'm new to World Wind, but had no trouble downloading with torrent & unzipping with winzip.

/*tom*/

BTW: I'm completely blown away with World Wind. I've been playing with computers since 1980 or so, and this is one of the amazing programs I've ever used. (nice to see my tax dollars going for something worth while :-)
