Around a month ago, December 23rd, 2009 to be exact, I downloaded the source code for WWJ to examine and do some testing.
Recently, my company has become intrested in world wind and today while going over its capablities with units, I encountered some problems. To show the project to my company, i downloaded the newest version of WWJ and when I tried to show some work, I could not due to the fact the code has changed vastly since the previous month and some core classes such as Conforming Polygon were missing(I had not downloaded the latest versions up untill that point). So my question pretty much is, do the developers push out code with theese kinds of crucial updates often? Are classes often deleted/replaced often? WWJ is quite a remarkable project, however our plans with WWJ require stable code, and constant updates with theese kinda of changes could be an issue for us. So just asking as to know whether we can rule this out. Thanks, any input is much appreciated. |

The World Wind Java SDK is still in development stage - call that alpha, which means the api is not fully stabilized and this kind of change may occur, although the developpers try to minimize the impact on existing applications.
Regarding the specific case of conforming shapes, it was the second iteration toward a satisfying implementation for surface conforming shapes. A better implementation has replaced it since 0.6 - see render SurfaceShapexxx and the TiledSurfaceObjectRenderer. |
