Hi,
Worldwind used to work for me until i installed some new drivers from NVidia (laptop drivers for an NVidia GeForce 7900 GS, i am on a Dell Inspiron 9400, Windows XP Professional, SP3, 2Gb of RAM). Ok, i thought, this is the new driver, and uninstalled it, and replaced it with the oldest "original" one provided by Dell. Still not luck. Worldwind does not run anymore. Neither does the 1.4.1 alpha. I am often confronted with the "first install" wizard which asks me about cache size etc. After that (just for any other normal startup), the splash screen stands in the middle of the screen, and then nothing. The app freezes. When I take it down using the task manager, the process named "WorldWind" has 00 CPU time, thus seems to be idling? I looked on the Interweb for any solution, as well as here in the forum - no avail. Like i said, it used to run like a charm, and now, even after reverting to the old drivers, it won´t start up again. Uininstalling, reinstalling WorldWind done as well, yet nothing works. I am one unhappy camper for the time being, especially since i wanted to code some more for a plugin... |

Where does WW log errors to ? Is it just the GUI ? that would be the first place to check. Are other 3D apps effected by this situation ?
Nvidia drivers I have installed do sometimes break compatibility ... there may be a more general problem with .Net applications or your DirectX version ... so you might try searching for similiar problems. |

Try using driver cleaner to totally uninstall the nvidia drivers, they can leave stuff around, you'll find it on guru3d.com Also look in your documents and settings folder there should be a folder for 1.4.1 somewhere which contains debug messages, you could also try deleting that folder and restarting WW.
If that doesn't help check you haven't got a screwed up .NET or DirectX and that managed DirectX is still installed. |
