http://www.nwanews.com/nwat/News/36299/

An article about some counties in NW Arkansas that made their 12" imagery available for Google Earth to use for free.

The data can be found in google earth, obviously.

j/k. I'm looking. So far I've found some java crap that kills my web browser when I click it.

edit: Here it is, I think. In MrSid or geotiff.

As I mentioned in IRC, the data is here:

174924 <f0urtyfive> http://titan.cast.uark.edu/raw_raste...ash2004_alpha/

The current problems for processing large volumes of imagery (in order, from most importance to least):

1. We arent allowed (licensing agreements).
2. We dont have the money to buy it (obscure legislature that requires payment)
3. We dont have a place to put it (about to be resolved).
4. We dont have enough power to process it fast (hopefully about to be resolved, see upcoming donation drive.)
5. We cant include an XML into the installation of World Wind, so only a few would use it anyway?

Has anybody else tried to use the imagery from West Virginia into WW? I downloaded some images and converted them to .jpg using Irfanview and tried using the image overlay plugin. I cannot get the pictures to line up correctly, not only that but there seems to be overlap between the pictures. I realize that state of West Virginia had its own reason for taking this imagery but to me it seems sloppy the way it was done, and does not seem WW friendly, but then again what do I know, I am not an expert on this sort of stuff.

Why yes, thankyou for bringing a very old post to the top of the post list. And yes, the imagery has been processed for WW, of course, it needs to be reprocessed due to transparency changes, but nonetheless, the West Virginia GIS people want to be credited for the work, and no one was willing to put that functionality into WW when I asked for it. (Text that sais "Copyright West Virginia" or something to that affect on the screen while the layer is loaded).

Thanks, that's really cool. I've found the source of the Elbe River (enter Loc:50° 46' 32.52" N, 15° 32' 10.12" E into the search box)

California 2005 NAIP Interim County Compressed Mosaics are available at http://new.casil.ucdavis.edu/casil/r...ing/naip_2005/ (the entire state 1-meter, color, MrSID). The final county mosaics and uncompressed DOQQs will be available later this year.

2002 "Medium Resolution Digital Aerial Photography" for Williamson County, Texas (looks like DOQQs from the index map): http://www.georgetown.org/department...ial_county.php.

Virginia 2003 (1-meter) and 2004 (2-meter) NAIP, "Entire state, however some areas contain partial data as marked," compressed county mosaics, MrSID: http://www.lib.vt.edu/help/subjects/maps/NAIP.htm.
