Default Symbol Orientation - Need help

Hello all,

I have an application I am trying to build. I am currently trying to utilize these Tactical Symbols. I have them where I can place them, size them, change the labels, and work offline. But it is imperitave that I change the direction (heading) of the symbols and I cannot find where this is built in. I am a new world wind user but I've tried to come up with some alternative solutions and have encountered other problems:

Solution 1: My first thought was to use the icon retriever to create the icon, set it as a wwicon (doesn't seem to add any value).

Solution 2: Ah Ha! SurfaceIcons have a heading! Create the icon with the icon retriever, set as a SurfaceIcon. Problem: it's now locked to the ground (which makes it look kind of bad) and I can't set a label to it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you looked at PointPlacemark? They have an icon, a label, a leader line and a heading, all optional.

PointPlacemark! I didn't look far enough into this one, the name and the fact that all the attributes are contained within PointPlacemarkAttributes threw me off. I've tried it out though and I think this solution may work for me for the time being.

One thing I see with this one is that I don't guess I can use the MilStd2525IconRetriever (which would be cool at least). PointPlacemarkAttributes is expecting an address for the icon instead of just an image of some type. Fortunately, I'm not using a big variety right now and it will probably save on my memory storage to just create a small database of the ones I need. Also, I'm not sure I like how the heading translates when the map is viewed any way other than from directly above the symbol. It looks kind of bizarre if they're pointing up.

Thank you. I'll probably have some other questions sooner or later when I start adding more complications.
