I'm a big fan of WorldWind, so I'm struggling with the wording on this post. With regards to release 1.4, I'm witnessing some pretty serious performance and instability. The CPU is pegged at 100%.
I've checked the bug-list and forums. There's always going to be a few grumblers, but I'm not seeing widespread problem reports. Has anyone else noticed performance drops between 1.3.5 and 1.4 (.NET)? As it stands, I've got a pretty big investment in plugins developed for 1.3.5. If 1.4 is the final .NET version, then I'll probably stick with with 1.3.5. If there are plans for future .NET versions, I'll need to work through the performance problems. Apologies for sounding negative. Hopefully the problem is on my end. To clarify, the problems I'm observing are on a base default install of WorldWind 1.4, no added plugins. System Specs: Xeom 3.0 GHZ CPU 2.00 GB RAM NVIDIA Quadro FX 3400/4400 |

Is it actually running slowly, or are you just paying too much attention to your cpu graph? Anyway, make sure the sun/atmosphere are turned off.

Get the version from the SVN, it's much better than 1.4.

SVN? Is that Source-Forge, or something else? Why would it be different, and how? Getting back to the question, of whether or not I'm worrying about performance or the cpu load in task-manager, the answer is yes to both. But I must concede that my original post was vague. I'll run some metrics this weekend. Thanks again. |

It's the source code repository where you can get the latest WW code to build yourself. There have been a lot of very nice changes since 1.4 was released (and a few new bugs too
). |

That's very good news. Thanks... Glad to hear .NET development is continuing. I'm all for the java version, but I'm not quite ready to jump-ship yet. ;-)

Bull just slacks off too much.
WWJava isn't ready for any kind of ship jumping yet anyway ![]()
