Hello, canosso!

Thanks for the plug-in! However, being new to the World Wind and not very technical, I have some problems with it. When trying to insert coordinates, I get the error: 'Index was outside the bounds of the array.' Secondly, what am I to do to get the URI thing to work? The explanation in e.g. Wikipedia was so short, I really didn't get the idea. Please, some piece of advice.

Thank you!

The source explanation could be found at http://forum.worldwindcentral.com/index....wtopic=4584&hl=, there is also a handbook.

The "Index was outside the bounds of the array." message will be shown if you inserted a number at Insert Position, let this field empty and your icon will be added. Your number was larger then the existing number of icons.

The URI is the same as you get if you press Control-C (=Copy Coordinates), e.g. worldwind://goto/world=Earth&lat=37.8266639709473&lon=-122.421943664551&alt=95000.

I hope that I helped you.

Dear canosso,

Thanks for the answer, but, me being somewhat untechnical, as I said, the matter is, however, still a bit unclear. The 'Index...' message appears directly when I press the 'Insert DMS Coordinates' button, and the 'Insert Position' = 0 or nothing.

And I still really don't know when to press Control-C for the URI. In fact, the idea of URI is unclear. Is it possible, e.g., to go from coordinates on a web page directly to World Wind? I try to copy coordinates on the clipboard, but when I go to World Wind, Edit, Paste Coordinates, and try to paste, I get 'The Worldwind:// URI could not be parsed.' Is this URI some kind of an add-on program, or...? The same message appears when I use your program: Insert Coordinates, Insert URI. I push Control-C, but nothing happens. Sorry for the trouble, and thanks in advance.

For Adding an icon you have to press "Add to favorites".

No the URI is the string like e.g. worldwind://goto/world=Earth&lat=37.8266639709473&lon=-122.421943664551&alt=95000. You get them by pressing Control-C or from the WorldWindCentral Hotspot section. Did you try to copy the URI in a text editor, there you should get only a string, nothing else.

Dear canosso,

Still, I beg your pardon, and thank you, but something doesn't work anyhow. I just wanted to know at which stage to press Control-C, because with WWind nothing happens then. I really only would like to know, how it is possible to search places in WWind by coordinates instead of place names. I cannot add coordinates anywhere, because I always get the error 'WWind://URI could not be parsed.' I understand the string meaning of URI, but how to use it? Are there those strings for only certain places? Thank you for your troubles again.

The URI will copied in your clipboard, you should paste it either into World Wind or in text editor or something else.

For the plugin you don't need this, simply go to the place and press "Insert the current coordinates" and the URI will be inserted in the URI field. To save only add a name for the icon and description and clickableurl if wanted.

Dear canosso,

I understand now how to get the URI from a place, but my real problem was the coordinates. Is it really impossible to find a place in WWind beginning from the coordinates, because in your plug-in clicking 'Insert Coordinates' --> 'Insert DMS Coordinates' follows always the error 'Index outside...' before anything else, and directly in WWind clicking 'Edit' --> 'Paste Coordinates' follows 'WWind://URI could not be parsed.' Something must be wrong, and I don't get it. Sorry! If you just could be kind enough to explain. Thanks again.

Sorry, you have to press the button "Insert the current coordinates" on the right, the menu on the left is only for converting coordinates.
The DMS coordinates should be formatted XX°XX'XX" XX°XX'XX", e.g. 37°49'35" 122°25'18" with the orientation char before or after the coordinates.

Dear canosso,

Thanks really for everything, but still:
There may be a deeper error that I haven't considered, because I seem to get an error message (though the FavIcon plug-in appeared) : FavIcons plug-in failed to load. The error was: Could not find a part of the path "C:\Prgr files\NASA\WWind 1.3.\Plugins\FavIcons\Fav.txt". As I said, the plug-in appeared anyhow, but perhaps it doesn't work, then.
Sorry, but when I press the "Insert..." button, where do I insert the coordinates, or where should I have them? And, sorry for my ignorance, but what is the "orientation char?"
Please, if you could explain the use of "Edit" in the WWind: I copy some coordinates on my clipboard and then click Edit --> Paste Coordinates, then I always get: "The wwind://URI could not be parsed. The URI used was XX XX XX XX XX XX and the error generated was: Invalid protocol, expected wwind://" What should I do, then?

Sorry for the trouble, but I only would like to know how to use the WWind rightly.
Thanks.

Hello,

Download the file at http://forum.worldwindcentral.com/index....st=0#entry24131, you were correct with the error, there was a problem with the path, sorry for the inconvenience I caused. Now it should work.

If you use DMS coordinates, there are the degree, minute and second char needed. The orientation char is for North, East, West, South, e.g. 37°49'35"N 122°25'18"W.
