Hi there,

Given the threat by OneEarth, "All your WMS are belong to us" and the fact that the Netherlands is the WMS country of the week, we have decided to surrender and release our Demis WorldMap Add-On.

Having a bunch of worldwind clients access any WMS can put a pretty high strain on the servers if it is rendering GIS datasets like this on the fly...

Therefore we have added a specific <ImageTileService> type of connector for WorldWind. The images rendered will be cached on the server to provide a boost in performance.

The server has about 10 - 100 Mbit of bandwith depending on the time of day, we hope this is enough to deal with the visitors of this forum giving it a try.

At some point if there is enough interest, we may just render all the tiles in batch and provide the static tile set to worldwinddata or some other party interested in hosting it.

We hope you like it, the add-on is attached to this message...

You may want to talk to fourtyfive or nowak, you can get to them on the #worldwind IRC channel (you can get to it via the WW menu or the worldwindcentral.com site).

WWC probably has more than enough space to host this data.

Well done Bart,
I'm still having a little problem working out what tiles appear at various altitudes,
but its great to see another professional layer available.
Some tiles are not displaying but I'm sure they will in time.

I have the feeling especially version 1.3.2 sometimes doesn't completely load al tiles in view, but then if you were to click insite the area on the left in your screenshot, it would. Also the brute force method hitting F5 sometimes helps

Yes, I think so.
I'm working on it now, downloading the whole globe first then moving in.
Just takes a little time, even with 256k adsl.
At least its going into a cache - probably!

I though this was just a worldwide political map layer at first, then I started zooming in. Wow.

The choice between full layer and transparent vector
data overlay provides great flexibilty. Really cool!

You were one of the folks that requested the vector overlay, glad you like it

I am not yet fully satisfied with the overlay, the fuzzy way it shows over the satellite imagery etc...

We may be make some changes to this layer, but the full worldmap is done so there will be no need to clear that out of your cache.

Thanks also for all the others providing positive feedback here !
