I am having trouble getting this application started. I am running xp sp2. I installed directx and .net. For some reason when I double click on the "world wind" icon, the splash screen opens and another smaller window also appears. The splash screen's status bar shows "Initializing" but it never gets past this point. I can close the application without a problem. BTW the smaller window that also appears is totally greyed out, so I can't see anything but the window itself without any content. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I just found the following content in a file named DEBUG_PROGRAM_START.txt in the World Wind folder. I think it's probably related. Any ideas what it means?
Error in the application. -2146232832 (Unknown) at Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3D.Font..ctor(De vice device, Font font) at WorldWindow.DrawArgs..ctor(Device device, Int32 screenWidth, Int32 screenHeight) at WorldWindow.WorldWindow.InitializeGraphi cs() at WorldWindow.WorldWindow..ctor() at WorldWind.WorldWind.InitializeComponent( ) at WorldWind.WorldWind..ctor() |

I think the graphic card is the issue. I am embarassed to say, but yes I am still running a Voodoo3, and that's probably why the application is not running.
I was aware of the requirements but I figured it will just run really slow. Please confirm that this is caused because of my ancient video card. Thanks. |

Here are my stats: Voodoo3 AMD XP 1700 512MB Ram Someone solve this, I for one am gonna try swapping video cards. |

Definitely a video card issue, took my Voodoo3 out and replaced it with a GeForce1 and it works fine now.
Good Luck Guys maybe there is a way to get the older cards to work. Vladimir |

Yup, a Voodoo3 definitely won't work. It's got a max texture size of 256x256, and the textures we use are well, bigger...

I am trying to use it on Thinkpad T40 and have the same problem. Splash screen stays forever!!! I installed both .NET framework and DirextX 9 from the same zip file and the graphics card is ATI Mobility RADEON 7500. Isn't it good enough?

Same problem with matrox millenium 2. So, should we wait until the next version, or give up?
