Red face

Hi all!

I put together 7 cache packs:

1) Landsat7 NLT Level 0 (368 MB, unpacks to 371 MB, 4990 files, no empty tiles)
2) Landsat7 NLT Level 1 (1408 MB, unpacks to 1415 MB, 18149 files, no empty tiles)
3) Landsat7 NLT Level 2 - Northern Hemisphere (4035 MB, unpacks to 4044 MB, 52497 files, no empty tiles) ***PLEASE KEEP UPLOADING AFTER DOWNLOAD***
4) Landsat7 NLT Level 2 - Southern Hemisphere (1137 MB, unpacks to 1150 MB, 16068 files, no empty tiles) ***PLEASE KEEP UPLOADING AFTER DOWNLOAD***
5) Landsat7 Community Visible Level 0 (154 MB, unpacks to 199 MB, 16200 files (includes all empty/black tiles)
6) Landsat7 Community Visible Level 1 (522 MB, unpacks to 537 MB, 21296 files (no empty tiles)
7) SRTM/SRTM30US Levels 0,1,2,3 Elevation Data (79 MB, unpacks to 317 MB, 7206 files)

CLICK HERE TO CHECK STATUS, SELECT AND DOWNLOAD THE TORRENTS

I don't think there will be any more global cache packs... or at least not from me.
Probably however, there will be REGIONAL cache packs (in even higher resolution) SOON! So do keep an eye on this (and this) topic.

Six packs contain just .jpg imagery, the seventh pack contains the elevation data for imagery levels 0 and 1. No elevation data for level 2, yet. Sorry.
I believe all the packs to be complete, though an occasional tile might be missing.

The packs are downloadable via BitTorrent. If you are not familiar with BitTorrent, read up at "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bittorrent".
Bottomline is that you download small files that contain the information needed by a small 'client' program to download the large cache packs. So download a client, install it, download the torrent-files you want, open them with the client and you're set. I recommend using the BitComet client, though you're free to use any other client you like.

Once downloaded, the files need to be unzipped into your WorldWind installation directory, which by default is "c:/program files/NASA/World Wind 1.3". Overwriting any files you've already got is fine - they are identical.

***PLEASE KEEP THE CLIENT RUNNING AS LONG AS POSSIBLE
***OR AT LEAST UNTIL YOU UPLOADED AS MUCH AS YOU DOWNLOADED
***Update on that: up to now, 60% of all data shared was shared by me...
***...so please help out and KEEP UPLOADING! Even 5k/sec helps!

And please post any troubles you're having.

Steven.

EDIT: HAVE A LOOK AT SOME INTERESTING INFO (by me ) ON SIZING YOUR CACHE

Thanks!
I'm downloading NLT 0 and 1, and also the elevation data.

I'll keep the client running as long as I can! And I suggest everyone else to do this, too...

Just found it per accidents (this post) again.
It would be nice to see the torrent link at a more prominent place, like the download section of worldwindcentral or something like that.

Edit: whoever 129.125.101.147 is, i also want that kind of internet connection

You're right. I should be more prominent. Maybe we can ask the moderators - nicely? I'll give it a try...

Hahaha, why would I get mad??!

The more folks who get it via BitTorrent, the less they hammer NLT servers with scripts, which leads to happiness all around.

I can read on NLT files "version 15-4-2005". Why this files have this version? Is nasa still proccessing this data set?

What are the files format in this zips files? dds or jpg?
