I downloaded World Wind 1.3.2 (full exe), but when I try to install it, I get the following message:
"The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instrucion CS:054cIP:0199 OP:65 63 74 20 61 Choose 'close' to terminate the application." Brand new computer with Windows XP, so space shouldn't be a problem. I have some security programs running, which I thought might be causing this problem, but even when I turn them off, I still get the same message. Does anyone have any suggestions? (I tried rebooting and downloading the file anew - same thing happened) Thanks! Rebecca |

Hmm... I'm not sure
Maybe the installer is corrupted - try downloading again (use a download manager or different browser than IE) it's also possible that a virus/spyware messed up your pc - click start->run... type cmd then sfc/scannow (this will check and restore important windows files; you may need to insert your Windows installation CD) |

NTVDM is the 'NT Virtual DOS Machine'.
The first Google result gives this, which I think you should try: http://www.webuser.co.uk/forums/showthread...36/page/vc/vc/1 http://www.webuser.co.uk/forums/showthread...51/page/vc/vc/1

Thank you for the suggestions, but no luck so far.
As m_k suggested, the computer asked for my WinXP (Home edition, in case it matters) CD after I typed in "cmd" and then "sfc/scannow", but the menu that came up didn't offer me the option of repairing or restoring anything - can't remember what all the choices were, but they included Install Windows, and Add options, among others. I don't know if clicking on "install Windows" might have then given me the option of repairing/restoring the OS, but I didn't want to take the chance of having my computer think I was trying to reinstall the OS altogether. I tried Beansprout's first link (ran Killbox.exe), but when I pasted the entire list of filepaths, as instructed, all the filepaths showed up on a single line - i.e., the dropdown arrow showed nothing. I tried manually hitting "enter" after each filepath, but that had no effect. Would it be worth a try to run the program separately for each entry? I haven't tried the instructions in Beansprout's second link, because I don't understand what to do with the .vbs file - there doesn't seem to be anything to download. I could copy it and paste it onto my desktop, but then how would I run it? Please advise, and I'll give it a shot. For whatever it's worth, Spybot Search and Destroy and Ad-Aware come back clean. I've tried reinstalling WorldWind 2 more times, once logged on as myself, once as the other user on this computer, but the error message remains essentially the same: the only difference is that the "054cIP" part of the message changed to "054eIP" the second time, and to "054aIP" the third time. (I rebooted between each installation attempt.) Awaiting any other suggestions anyone might have! Thanks, Rebecca |

Basically I think you have some form of spyware.
On the second link, you have to download the file to your PC and run it. Right click on the link and choose "Save as..." and save it to your desktop. Then double click on it and it should give you a prompt asking you about extra checks to run. Click no. On the next box, read it and click ok (it should tell you what's going on. Basically it runs in the background for a few minutes and will tell you when it's done). # You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done, let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!) # Once you receive the prompt All Done!, open the text file on the desktop, copy that entire log, and paste it here. What it does is make a list of all the programs which run at startup, so I can see if there's any spyware in there.

I tried a clean installation of Windows, but I'm still getting the same error message. I guess I'll try troubleshooting with MS or Dell... I'll post back if I find out anything useful.
Thanks for trying to help, Beansprout! |

Hello Users, You Can Resolve The Problem By Just Replacing A File Names COMMAND.COM In C:\WINDOWS\system32\COMMAND.COM\ this way,so you need to replace this file with new one, which you can get from your windows installation cd in which a file named COMMAND.CO_
so you just have to copy the file to your hd and then rename the COMMAND.CO_ with command.exe and just replace it with C:\WINDOWS\system32\COMMAND.COM\ And You Are Done. All Tested No Problem To System In Case. : ) OR If You Don't have a windows installation cd you can have the download link [ link removed ] |
