I work for the Earthquake Team at USGS, and I want to provide a service/text files via the Internet for plotting real-time earthquake information in World Wind.
Using XML (or another text format) would be perhaps the easiest solution, but I don't think World Wind supports this option. For the Keyhole viewer, I am using their proprietary .kml format (a flavor of XML) to plot earthquakes. See: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/recenteqsww/catalogs/ World Wind supports WMS, but I can't figure out how to plot a WMS service that's not already on the list in World Wind. In the release notes, it says "Now interprets new worldwind://wmsimage= URI format." I tried something like this, and the link launches World Wind from Firefox, but it doesn't plot the eqs (and it doesn't give any kink of error, either...). I verified that my WMS service is working properly. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers, Scott Haefner |
