As i understand, WWJ (http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/java/index.html) is a SDK not an application. So someone will need to put together a usable and distributable application.
How will that happen ? What does the WWJ component do and what should the application do ? What if some features needed should be part of the component ? How will future versions of the component fit in previous applications ? What about plug-ins and add-ons ?
Lotsa questions... i hope we can gather answers in this thread .
First off from what I gather NASA want us to coordinate making an official client, we will gather up the best stuff tha appears and mix it into 'the' client, we could also start thinking about what we want from a client, and which language to write it in.

I think the consensus on irc was to wait and see what people come up with on their own before attempting to make anything official.

I'm hoping to put together a rudimentary Eclipse RCP based around the WWJ SDK, so that might be a first pass. Though, until I see the code, I can't promise anything.
I haven't gotten to far with converting the previous AWT WWJ code to SWT/OGJ and would rather not have to cross the AWT_SWT bridge :)

Will there be some way to drop this WWJ control into a C-Sharp or C++ app under .Net? Or will it need a J++ app?

What about straight Swing? For all the coolness that is Eclipse, SWT is not as rich of a GUI framework as Swing is - Swing Labs. (http://swinglabs.org/)
They even have cool Swing/JOGL interop. (http://weblogs.java.net/blog/campbell/archive/2005/09/java2djogl_inte_1.html)

So i guess NASA will help us answer all those questions and TomG will at last show up in the forums ?
I think we should make a list of questions and submit it to Patrick Hogan... may be quicker that way
Is there going to be a transcript of Tom presentation somewhere ?
One thing i'd like to see is a feature comparison table between WW.net and the WWJ component. It would give an idea of the road ahead to catch up with the current .net version.
