View Full Version : Shapefiles?

It appears from posts here that shapefile import may be implemented in the current release. And, playing with WW for the first time today (blown away!) somehow a dialog came up asking me to specify the path for a shapefile, but I didn't have any luck bringing it in.

Any docs on this feature? Does it work yet?

Thanks!

Rob

I agree with the speaker above. I would also like to add esri shapefiles from my own datasets, to further enhance this incredible piece of software. Will future versions support shapefiles?

I see that CTRL-Z opens ShapfileImporter box. It is a bare-bones feature I'm not sure how to use. Is there documentation on this feature? There is an input field for the name of the shapefile. What coordinate system does the shapefile need to be in? Underneath the filename is "button1" which fills the box below with data: DBF Records, DBF Header Structure Length and number of fields. Two more data boxes contain "Strings" and "Scalar" data fields. Below these boxes is "button2" which seems to be the key button for generating a World Wind layer. It looks like fiels are supposed to be highlighted before "button2 is pressed. Then what? And how is the resuling world wind layer added to WW?

Thanks,
Dave
