Hi everybody. I have an odd problem; when I use the USGS Urban Area maps
I can see the high-res maps then gray spotting all over the place. The odd part
is that I saw a complete high-res map, vivid color with no spotting about five
minutes ago. I zoomed all the way out, then when I zoomed back in this is when
I started having the problem. I'm using World Wind 1.2c, the latest version. I also
tried to reboot my pc but still no luck. When I pan around the gray patches flicker
all over the place, so its not in a "set" position. When I turn off Urban Area maps
the gray patches goes away.

Heres my specs:

Windows XP SP 1
Asus P4C800-E Deluxe Motherboard
Pentium 3.0C @ 3.3 GHZ
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro

All is latest drivers.

I appreciate anybodys help. Thank you!
Randy

Please forgive me for triple posting. I found a fix:

Disable USGS Digital Ortho-Quadrangles in the Layer Manager.

The solution is quite simple: click on the "Layer Mgr." button (to open up the Layer Manager, duh :) ), then go to Images->High Resolution Terrain Mapped Imagery, and make sure that only "USGS Urban Area Ortho-Imagery" is checked.

What you're seeing is 2 or more data sets on the same surface.... and when dealing with 3D, having more than 1 texture on a coincident surface causes artifacts like what you've described.

EDIT: pfft, looks like you figured it out while I was posting :P
