First, thanks for a great application. I've already had a lot of fun with it, and I'm looking forward to when all the servers are up.

I just have one question:
I can get the terrain mapped imagery from USGS working, but it looks like flat textures. I thought it was supposed to show height differences as well? I've tried looking at mountains from the side, setting vertical exaggeration to 10x, but I can't see anything. Obviously I must have misunderstood the purpose of vertical exaggeration. Can anyone explain it to me?

Requires the JPL SRTM, and since JPL is down, you don't get that information.

I have the same problem. Downloaded the add-ons but unfortunately still no terrain height differences visible in birds eye view.

Great program!!!

Ditto here. I've downloaded some add-ons and still come up flat.

I've downloaded some add-on areas, and I notice awesome 3d terrain of the areas I've downloaded.
Grand Canyon, Mt. Fuji, Mt. St. Helens.
Make sure the add-on's you downloaded have 'SRTM' in its description of what it is. I don't think all of them do.
That, and remember, the add-ons -are- for specific areas, not the entire globe.

I also see everything flat although I downloaded cache files from the Nasa site that did include SRTM data (such as the ones quoted above). I tried everything, with the mouse or keyboard but just can't get it up!!!

Any one has a clue? Is it due to the hardware?

Amazing soft though. Thks to the Nasa team for this!

Thks,

Mat

It works!! In despair, I downloaded and applied the latest patch (1.2c dated Oct 5th, 5MB) and the 3D feature started working like magic.

Actually, I downloaded WW on 18/10 and assumed my copy was already 1.2c but apparently it was not. So the patch solved my problem.

And the result is absolutely awsome, just like being there. I'm impressed by this amazing piece of software, really. I even gave it to my daughter's school. I think everyone should spread it around.

Hmm, interesting. The full version "should" be 1.2c.

*pokes the NASA guys* Any insite?

Perhaps Mat downloaded from one of the many sites now offering Worldwind, and not an official mirror?

Mat? Did you download on the 18th from opensource.arc.nasa.gov or kiosk.arc.nasa.gov?

I know from the forums (and Google) that there are many people helping share the interest in World Wind. They might not all have 1.2c :D

Anyone know if this link (http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,24072,00.asp) is the latest version?

That's about the only external worldwind link I could find.

Hello,

I also can't see any 3d view. I've downloaded Mt. Fuji, Grand canyon and Alps.

I'm running XP in a athlon 2.4, 1gb Ram, and a GeForce Ti4200 128mb using Direct X 9.0c

Also, im running WW 1.2c downloaded from the official website.

Any ideas?

Thank you

Hello,

Great program! Unfortunately I have the same problem (no 3d).

I downloaded World Wind today (1.2c), and also installed the add-on for the Alps. Works fine, except for the elevation. :(

Here are 2 screenshots:

Configuration: P4, 2.67 Ghz, 768 MB RAM, NVidia Geforce4 Ti 4200 with AGP8X
Windows XP Home Edition, sp2

Looking forward to when the servers are up and running again!
Thanks.
