Last week I was able to view and use the JAVA SDK demos just fin but this week I am getting a blank globe with effects, topography and label but no imagery? Can anybody tell me whats wrong and what I need to do to fix it. I am not a programmer, just an educator and meddler.
I will post a screen shot to show and put the Diagostic below

Hi, thanks for the up-front detail (it makes our job so much easier)! You are experiencing the infamous "ghost globe" issue. Generally, it's solved by updating the drivers on your graphics card. Will you need help updating your graphics drivers?

I followed the instructions on the WW java website. I found my video card and went to intel and uploaded and installed the newest driver. This did not change the problem. The build for the driver was feb 28 2008.

Thanks, I'm looking at the OpenGL version, and nothing has changed. We need OpenGL version 1.4 or greater, you're drivers are supporting 1.1.0. Virtually all modern graphics cards support at least OpenGL 1.5, so it's not a stretch.

What this means is that the driver install either didn't affect anything (you already had the latest drivers), or the install didn't work.

Are you 100% sure you installed the correct driver?

If so, did you disable virus scanners before installation, and restart your machine after the installation?

I looked into the install notes for the driver and it says it supports Open GL 1.4 or 1.5 but my WW diagnostic keep on coming back as 1.1.0 so my guess is that this is the root of the problem. It is a school issued lap top so there may be some security feauture that I can not find or do not have access to getting in the way. I am going to try to get one of my IT people to help try to fix the problem

So I am right now in that the problem is the version of openGL installed for the video card?

Thanks for following up. Here's a link to a 3rd party tool that can verify OpenGL version at runtime:
http://www.realtech-vr.com/glview/download.html

If you're able to run this (school/corporate laptops can be a pain), let me know what you find.

What color depth are you running your desktop at (right click on your Windows desktop wallpaper and look at display properties, the screen where you adjust your resolution)?

If it's 24 bits, try 32 or if it's 32 try 24.

it was at 16, I changed it to 32 and everything works fine. Thanks for the help:)

Is there a way to have nasa fix this problem in the baseline, this probably shouldn't or atleast display to the user a message to change their screen bit res.
