View Full Version : Can't connect to servers

I have already searched through this forum and tried to use the Analog x port mapper and proxy to go through my router with all of the necessary ports forwarded and nothing ever loaded. Even when I put my computer in the DMZ it still didn't load anything. Also, when i say didn't load anything I am not getting a 2 min message, it just moves the red box to a different area on the map. This is frustrating me because I have port 80 correcly forwared and I have tried using a proxy. Is there no way for this program to work. I have seen all of these awsome pictures of this program and I have been missing out on it since i learned about it when the slashdot happened. What else should I try because I really want to use this program?

Hmm, interesting.

Do you get white tiles, or simply "nothing"? If you're getting white tiles there's probably no data - you could be looking at an area outside of the USGS coverage, for example.

If nothing at all is happening, try zooming in further. Try going to the US and selecting the USGS, try selecting the Psuedo Landsat7.

If still nothing happens, do you have a firewall blocking the program's access? XP XP2 has a firewall enabled by default, you probably want to tweak its settings if it's on.

Well nothing loads, no white tiles or anything. Also I have tried between USGS and the Landsat data and nothing. Also I have no software firewalls running because they are too annoying for me. From all that I know this should be working fine. I know this because I am getting microsoft certified right now. Is there anything else to try?

Could you please download and install Ethereal? It's a network traffic analyser.

http://www.ethereal.com/

Open it, start a capture, use WW, stop the capture, then save it and upload it to the forums.

Try not to use the internet while you're doing this, or lots of other packets will clutter up the logs for my poor eyes!

Also note that you need to download and install WinPcap first - this is marked on the Ethereal site, you can download it from there too I believe.

Thanks, I installed 1.2e full before but it seems to went wrong!

Did a uninstall and installed again and Voila, no problems so far. :D

Well, I am still having my problems connecting to world wind. From the Ethereal logs I captured I noticed that the application is making no attempts on port 80 at all. This makes me wonder what is going on my with my version. I am zooming in far enough to get the red box so it should be making some request during the program starting up or even it zooming in. This also included trying to get Landsat7, Landsat7 psuedo, and USGS data. The program never sent any packets. What is wrong with the application?
