hi,
i am getting nearly the same error messages from my attempts to open WW from the Start menu...
(using W2K; this didn't happen pre-patch...vers. 1.2c; though i never really fully initialized
the program before installing the patch, i got no immediate error messages.)
perhaps i should have let 1.2c go "full on" before installing the 1.2d patch, just to see how it was
working at that stage on my pc.
first error message:
http://www.5medicines.com/3.via%20START%20menu.1st%20message.jpg
(my setup seems a bit more deficient than yours, as several more items are listed in the error message...)

then, clicking OK, i get a second error message:
http://www.5medicines.com/4.via%20START%20menu.2nd%20message.jpg
(that one is identical to yours)

AS well... when attempting to open WW from the desktop icon placed by the s/w, i get first
this error message (gotta love screen grabs!!)
http://www.5medicines.com/1.clicking%20desktop%20shortcut.1st%20er ror%20message.jpg
but sometimes the parameters are different, as in:
http://www.5medicines.com/5555.jpg

and in:
http://www.5medicines.com/6666.jpg

then when i click Cancel, i get this second error message:
http://www.5medicines.com/2.via%20desktop%20shortcut.selected%20CA NCEL.2nd%20error%20message.jpg

any ideas on what went wrong with my install(s)?

thanks in advance!

p.s. i won't be able to leave the error images above at my server too long.

but probably i will forget about that, and they'll bobble thru cyberspace forever...

Does the Start->Run->dxdiag tool show any errors when you try the 3D demo ?

You could save the diagnostics it produces and attach them to your message, and it might provide some clues.

i assume you mean the 3d demo within dxdiag, the button that says "Test Direct3d"??

the tests all seem to indicate no problem, but here's the results
(partial, anyway, if you think the rest have the 'clue' i can post them, but
they are kinda lonnnng):

You must register to edit posts, after registering you can edit to your hearts content :)

Otherwise how would the board know it was you editing your own post and not someone else :)

I've taken the liberty of deleting the offending double post however.

About the "Registered JIT debugger not available": that is common, and completely normal
